One sip was all we needed to know that we'd just made a very dangerous discovery.
With the holiday season over--finally!--my wife and I decided to enjoy an afternoon out of the house, hoping to brave North Asheville traffic without a golden android's anxious warnings. "Sir! The possiblity of successfully navigating Merrimon Avenue is approximately three thousand, seven hundred and twenty to one!" Having duly beaten the odds, we arrived at The Hop and its partner bubble tea shop, Pop.
For all of The Hop's legendary status (in my own opinion) as the county's flagship ice cream joint, Pop has remained a sidenote of little or no interest--that is, until today. Having recently tried bubble tea for the first time, my wife was eager to see if her second round would come anywhere near the first. Lucky for her, Pop had just the thing--
The Lucky Panda Bamboo.
I myself headed over to The Hop proper, thinking I'd get the usual--an Oreo shake, probably--but quickly spotted another flavor. So it was, then, that we sat down with a Lucky Panda and an eggnog milkshake with the requisite whipped cream on top.
Moments later, both beverages looked like this:
Sure enough, The Hop--and Pop--live up to their legendary status.
